Roosevelt's presidency changed the character of American society dramatically. Him and his reforms/innovations shaped the "Greatest Generation," along with the fates of millions born after the Great Depression. Roosevelt recognized the need for civil and equal rights. He gave America hope for a brighter future, economically and socially, through his New Deal. He brought America out of the Depression and introduced many new ideas that helped him bring the United States out of the gutter, off the streets, and back to a whole. He was the only president to serve more than two terms and he did everything he could for his country in his twelve years. He provided aid to Britain and managed to keep America out of the war until war was directly declared on us. Roosevelt did a great deal of good for his country through determination, courageousness, and dedication.
Ronald Reagan
In Reagan's eight years in office, he managed to lower inflation from its late-1970s peak. He soothed relations with the Soviet Union and they thawed. The unemployment rate decreased and incomes increased. Reagan’s positive attitude helped Americans recover from the shocks of the 70's in culture and economics. Reagan restored and strengthened American citizens' faith in their government, and he relieved their fears. He helped to return America to her strong and proud position by reclaiming the United State's place as world leader. Reagan is arguably one of the most influential American's of the twentieth century, bringing countless positive changes to the table. Ronald Reagan left behind a legacy that Republicans today are trying to take upon themselves. For twenty years, Reaganism was the goal of the Republicans. The focus has shifted to the tea party philosophy, it is still something that was modeled after Reagan's conservativeness. Reagan changed America for the better in the eight years he served.
